Who a fiberglass pool fits best

Fiberglass is for the family that wants a pool without stretching for the largest investment. It has a low cost of construction, and it's a good fit for a first pool owner in a younger community where the property values don't call for a bigger build.

It also suits a tighter schedule. The shell is manufactured by a maker with decades of design and manufacturing experience and delivered to your door, so the long forming and shooting stage of a shotcrete pool is already behind it before the truck arrives in Bluffton.

The trade-off is shape. Fiberglass pools come as pre-set designs. If you want a shape drawn from scratch for your lot, the shotcrete line is the better fit, and Kevin will say so plainly.

Set, filled and backfilled in one sequence

The hole is excavated first. The pool is set, then filled with water. As it fills, the plumbing is run, the equipment is set, and the pool is backfilled around the shell, so the water and the soil go up together.

Once the pool is full, the tile is set and the deck is installed. You still make the choices that matter to how it looks and feels: the depth profile, the liner, and the coping and decking material.

Camp Pool Builders installs and fills a fiberglass pool within 7 business days. The shell arrives finished, so what's left is the work around it.

The two-week rest, then the deck

Every fiberglass pool Camp sets then sits for 2 weeks after backfill. That rest lets the pool and the surrounding deck grade lock into place before anything permanent is poured or laid on top. The gap is used well: the equipment is set and wired, and the service yard fence goes in if your lot needs one.

An at-grade fiberglass pool with a concrete or paver deck can be done in as little as 3 weeks. A fiberglass pool that is elevated needs engineering, a footing and a CMU substructure, and that takes longer, up to about 12 weeks with the deck.

To own, the non-porous surface means less chemical and less electricity through the season. Replacing the liner lets you change the look later and costs less than re-plastering, and the long-term cost lands mid-range. Kevin Camp designs the layout and is on site at the critical steps, from the dig to the deck. Call (843) 683-2862 to walk your lot.

Weighing fiberglass against shotcrete

Fiberglass is quicker and lower to build. Shotcrete gives you any shape, size and depth, for a larger first investment.
